Geoespace, a company which specialises in geoscience, has joined the incubator at the Technology Park in Bidart to develop a technology transfer project. The aim is to use solutions from the oil industry to support environmental projects through the "eOcean" project.

After working in the same para-petroleum group, Anne Mercier and Clément Blaizot set up their own company in October 2017 in the Helioparc Technology Park in Pau. Geoespace specialises in observation of the earth and oceans and offers mapping services based on satellite & radar images."Geoespace operates in the field of marine natural resources. The use of radar imaging, a technology which is currently under-exploited, has allowed us to set ourselves apart," explains Anne Mercier.

Having been hosted in the ESA BIC Sud France incubator via ESTIA, GeoEspace and its eOcean project is joining the ESTIA incubator. "Our ambition is to transfer the knowledge and expertise we acquired in the oil industry to the marine environment. The innovative service we are developing with the eOcean project will be dedicated to the real-time observation, monitoring and tracking of objects on the ocean surface. The platform will retrieve, select and process a large flow of spatial data to propose solutions for alerts on the presence of objects, particularly pollution. We aim to deploy our platform by the end of 2019," explains Anne Mercier. Geoespace's activity dedicated to geoscience will remain in Pau and the eOcean project will be developed from Izarbel in the coming months.
