Open day at the Aquapole of Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the INRA (National Institute for Agronomic Research) Aquapole site will open its doors to the general public on Sunday 21 May from 10 am to 6 pm, with conferences and exhibitions on the programme.

The Aquapôle of Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle is home to all the research activities conducted in the Aquitaine region by INRA on the feeding of farmed fish and the study of their behaviours.

The Aquapole, located at the entrance to the town with 2,100 m² of laboratories, is also based on several other experimental sites and includes 70 researchers, engineers and technicians.

It is an excellence cluster which is internationally recognised for its research, focusing particularly on issues related to the development of more sustainable aquaculture and the preservation of populations of migratory fish.

On the Open Day programme on Sunday 21 May, from 10 am to 6 pm:

Fifteen workshops and games aimed at children of 5 and over and at older visitors.

Visits to two different facilities: the Uxondoa fish ladder and the fish farm at Saint Christophe high school in Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle

Two conferences for the general public: “What does the fish which I eat, eat? “And “The salmon population of the Nivelle River”.

An anniversary exhibition consisting of 15 posters retracing 40 years of research at the Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle site.
