In September, the Montaury campus of the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour will welcome the first class of a new Master’s 2 course dedicated to coastal eco-engineering. This course will boost the region’s skills in the field of renewable marine energies.

The Master’s 2 course, offered as an initial education or sandwich course, focuses on coastal eco-engineering and is aimed at holders of a validated Master’s 1 degree in “Electrical engineering and industrial Informatics”, “Engineering Sciences” or “Industrial engineering” as well as engineers who have graduated from generalist colleges and those with equivalent foreign qualifications.

“The originality of this Master's degree is that it intentionally offers cross-disciplinary training, even though it is based on electrical engineering which is essential when dealing with energy-saving or industrial process control” explains Franck Luthon, in charge of this new Master’s degree. It is intended to deal with energy efficiency, environmental impact and risks in the broader sense, and in an optimal fashion.

The future holders of this new Master’s in eco-engineering and coastal sciences will be able to manage engineering projects of complex systems which will involve industrial firms and local authorities in a plan for the sustainable development of the coastline.

The aim is to train professionals for projects focused on risk management, innovation, impact studies, environmental certification, audit, process optimisation, control of energy resources (clean energy), control of clean technology processes and quality assurance. The first course will begin on 11 September 2017 on the Montaury campus, located on the Arkinova Technology Park.
