Second year of the Tech4Islands Awards

The international Tech4Islands Awards competition, launched from French Polynesia, aims to produce digital solutions that are innovative, tangible and quickly available for deployment in the island territories.

The Tech4Islands Awards competition, initiated by French Tech Polynesia, is open for applications from 26 May to 20 July with an awards ceremony in Tahiti on 23 April 2021. The objective is to promote more self-sufficient, sustainable and resilient development in the twelve overseas French territories.

Startups, innovative businesses, research organisations and universities in public/private partnerships are invited to propose solutions around five themes:

  • Health Tech & e-Health
  • Sustainable and resilient Blue Tech
  • Clean Tech & the Circular Economy
  • Eco-responsible Smart tourism
  • Digital inclusion.

This second year of the awards is divided into three trophies: the Grand Prix Monde is for all candidates, the Grand Prix Océanie is for candidates in Oceania and the Grand Prix Outre-mer is for French overseas candidates.

In 2019, the first year of the awards received 66 applications from 10 countries and territories and awarded prizes to BiOceanOr, a solution for an online submarine weather station and LeadBees, an online solution for managing beehives.
