Education and training: the themes of the 9th ANTIC Rencontres Numériques [Digital Meetings]

The 2018 edition of Rencontres Numériques, to be held on 5 July at Bayonne University of Trades, will focus on digital challenges in education.  The morning will be devoted to secondary school teachers and stakeholders in the youth sector; the afternoon will be geared towards those involved in apprenticeship and vocational training.

‘This year we will close the YESict European project funded by Erasmus+, which we coordinated and led with six European partners. The project aims to develop certain entrepreneurial skills such as creativity and collaboration in 11- to 15- year-olds.  Through this project and from meetings with teachers and secondary school heads, we realised that the educational sector has questions to ask about digital use, about the new teaching practices enabled by digital technology and different teacher and learner approaches, etc. The theme of the 2018 digital meetings will provide answers. We will discuss the changes and transformations brought about by digital technologies, that these stakeholders must address in order to continue assisting young people towards employment’, Annick DALMAGNE, the director of the Basque Country Agency for New Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC), explains.

ANTIC, located at the Izarbel Technology Park, is organising this 2018 edition in partnership with the Chambre des Métiers et de l’Artisanat 64 [Basque Country Chamber of Trade and Craft Workers] and the Caisse des Dépôts.  Entitled ‘Digital technology, education and training: an opportunity to reveal young talent’, these 9^th Rencontres Numériques will focus on several educational experiments and initiatives around digital tools in order to address these new educational and training issues. With the participation of the Basque Country Development Council, the issues raised for the region by these topics will also be addressed.
