A team from the Compositadour Technology Platform, led by Guillaume Fourage, is participating in the design of an aircraft carrier in composite materials, in association with aeronautical groups.

‘The aim of this project is to create an aircraft carrier in composite materials, with innovative architecture, a high degree of automated manufacturing and the development of a novel procedure,’ explains Guillaume Fourage, project head of the composite unit on the Compositadour platform. This project, which employs five people in Compositadour, prefigures what could be the next generation of aeronautical structures and components and will be industrialised in the coming years.

Based in the Technocité technology park in Bayonne, Compositadour is renowned for its expertise in the implementation of composite procedures. In the framework of the Cobomeag European project, Guillaume Fourage and his team have already contributed to a collaborative R&D programme to automate the manufacture of reinforcement parts (top-hat section stiffeners) for aircraft structures. This 12-month mission was carried out on behalf of Airbus Defence and Space and ended in early 2018.
