The Business Generator recently invited stakeholders from the Arkinova Technology Park to present their projects with a view to exploring cross-disciplinary collaboration.

On 1 October, thirty representatives from organisations based at Arkinova accepted the invitation from the manager of the Business Generator to attend this annual meeting:

  • Lycée Cantau specialised in the building, energy and construction trades
  • The Aquitaine Institute for Building and Civil Engineering (ISA BTP), a UPPA engineering school specialised in building and civil engineering, along with its Foundation
  • The Bayonne and Pays Basque University Institute of Technology (IUT) (Montaury site)
  • La Fédération compagnonnique des métiers du bâtiment (Federation of Construction Professionals)
  • The University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour (UPPA) and the laboratory for applied sciences in mechanics and electrical engineering (SIAME) and computer science research laboratory (LIUPPA)
  • The regional centre for sustainable construction and development in Aquitaine (CREAHd)
  • Nobatek/INEF4 technological centre
  • The Basque Country Technology Park and the Operational Urban Planning and Higher Education-Research departments of the Basque Country Urban Authority

Some of the many projects discussed by the participants include creating new training programmes following the example of Lycée Cantau's "Art and Design" vocational degree, which will replace its Spatial Design BTS (advanced technician's certificate). The ISA BTP also announced that it will open an international master's programme with a focus on advanced digital simulation (materials, structures and coastal engineering). In the field of research, ISA BTP is set to welcome two new chairs dedicated to the themes of coastal protection and physics, in addition to the 'Architecture and Urban Physics' chair held by Benoit Beckers.

The Basque Country Urban Authority presented its 'Cœur de Campus' urban planning operation that it will carry out over the coming months at the Arkinova Technological Park.   The meeting concluded with an overview of the symposiums, lectures and events that will be organised and promoted via the Basque Country Technology Park website. The overview provided an opportunity to highlight new synergies between different players on the Arkinova site. This should lead to collaborative, innovative projects with a focus on sustainable development and construction.
