The start-up On Rewind joins Euro Media Group
The sports event broadcasting platform developed on the Izarbel Technology Park is becoming a subsidiary of a French group with bases in seven European countries.
Created by Rémi Chasles and Romain Violleau in 2015, the On Rewind start-up offers a video solution which covers video hosting, encoding and content management. This platform also supports broadcasting and live sharing on social media and the hosting of content by third-party suppliers (video sharing platforms).
French company Euro Media Group, the French and European leader in technical filming services for television and cinema (340 employees), and its subsidiary Netco Sports, specialising in the development of technical and digital solutions for the sports and media industries, announced the acquisition of On Rewind at the end of October.
In practical terms, the solution developed by On Rewind allows users to view sports competitions and access highlights via automatically-indexed markers. A non-intrusive and innovative monetisation system has also been developed to highlight products or services during the viewing in order to promote sponsors and partners.
With the acquisition of the On Rewind technology, Netco Sports is launching a simplified production and over-the-top distribution solution (audio-visual services directly accessible on the Internet), offering at the same time video creation on site, remote content creation and enhancement and its broadcasting on the On Rewind platform.
“It’s an important step for our company. We incorporate an overall offering for event coverage from filming to broadcasting on the Internet” commented Rémi Chasles, one of On Rewind's founders. With its eight employees (and ten or so external contributors), On Rewind - now a subsidiary of the Euro Media Group - will keep its head offices at the Izarbel Technology Park.
“It was one of our requirements. We wanted to stay in Bidart to enlarge the technical team there as well as the Research & Development Department. Here we have been able to create a skilled team”. In order to continue its growth, On Rewind will shortly be hiring five developers and a sales manager who will also be present at the company’s sales office in Paris.
