The Basque Country Digital Cluster widens its remit

The association, whose members are Basque Country firms that specialise in software publishing and valued added digital services is taking on a regional mission to support and develop employment and skills.

Carried out in partnership with the State at national or regional level and different professional bodies, employment and skills development actions (ADECs) are intended to anticipate economic, social and demographic changes.

ADECs will be organised at local area level and will favour collective approaches in order to anticipate developments in the employment market and optimise the possibilities for recruitment in growing professional branches. ADECs benefit from a State grant and are part of the AME initiative (economic change support).

In the Nouvelle-Aquitaine area, a ADEC was launched in September 2017. It involves the State, the Nouvelle Aquitaine regional authority and five digital clusters present in Aquitaine: the Pays Basque Digital Cluster, the Digital Aquitaine cluster, the ALIPTIC(Limousine association of information and communication professionals), the SPN digital cluster of the former Poitou-Charentes region and the SYRPIN (Regional federation of IT and digital sector professionals).

"This action will take place over three years with the objective of raising the skills levels of firms operating in the digital sector in areas of technical excellence. Training courses will be offered to companies at attractive rates and subsidised by the FAFIEC, the accredited training funds collection agency for the digital professions," explains Jean-Louis Melin, President of the Pays Basque Digital Cluster.

The Pays Basque Digital Cluster will be implementing this action in the area covered by the Department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the south of the Landes. "The Cluster will help companies to express their needs and organise joint training sessions," adds Marie-Chantal Duguine, the association's facilitator. For this employment and skills development action (ADEC) launched in the last quarter of 2017, the Pays Basque Digital Cluster will also be reinforcing its team by recruiting a prospecting officer (for six months) and an expert human resources consultant. It also worth noting that the scheme will be completed with a training platform to be set up by the cluster.
