The regional aerospace branch in numbers

In partnership with the Aerospace Valley competitiveness cluster, the INSEE New Aquitaine and Occitania Regional Directorate has published the results of a yearly report on the aerospace sector of these two regions.

The survey concerns the territory of the Aquitaine region (five departments) and the Midi-Pyrénées (eight departments) before the territorial re-organization in 2016 creating the larger regions of New Aquitaine and Occitania. This yearly survey provides the key figures for this branch, representing 130,000 jobs and 1,064 businesses.

The aerospace branch encompasses the industrial sector, with equipment manufacturers, metallurgy, aerospace construction and maintenance, the commercial sector, logistics, and finally, specialized services, especially I.T. and engineering. We should remember that the territory of the Pays Basque Urban Area is important to this industrial sector, notably the Technocité Technology Park, accredited by the Aerospace Valley competitiveness cluster
