Third edition of the Bind 4.0 programme

Operated by the economic development agency of the Spanish Basque Government, Bind 4.0 is a 24-week public-private acceleration programme for start-ups, which takes place in the Spanish Basque Country.  The aim is to develop innovative projects with industrial groups.

For its first edition, launched in 2016, the Bind 4.0 programme received 257 applications from start-ups in 41 countries.  The project by the start-up Hupi was among the 11 finalists.  Specialising in big data, the start-up was founded at the Izarbel technology park in December 2014.  Hupi was selected in the framework of Bind 4.0 to apply its big data solution to the automobile parts plant of the Maier group, located in Guernica.

For the third edition of Bind 4.0, digital transformation in industry is still at the heart of this public-private programme which aims to develop 4.0 projects through commission-based partnerships between start-ups and major industrial groups.  This year, 40 groups are offering collaborations with start-ups, including Mercedes-Benz, Bridgestone, Iberdrola, Repsol-Petronor, Michelin and Danobat Group. This third edition of Bind 4.0 is also opening up to the health sector.

The originality of this programme is the cooperation between industrial groups and start-ups, based on a customer-supplier relationship.  In addition to actual invoicing with key accounts, the start-ups benefit from high-level references which open the door to new markets.  The third edition of Bind 4.0 has just been launched and start-ups have until 14 September to apply.
