Simon Dabadie's idea was already one of three winners of the last ‘Atelier de l’Innovation’ (Innovation Workshop) call for projects organised by the Basque Country Community of Districts. His aim is to produce customised motorcycles via a digital design and sales platform.

Already renowned in the motorcycle sector for his innovative projects developed in partnership with major brands, Simon Dabadie and his company Dab Motors (founded 2017) are located at the Technocité Park in Bayonne. ‘We work with the Compositadour and Addimadour platforms here, who help us with the creation of our prototypes and our research.’ Simon Dabadie, a graduate engineer of ESTIA Bidart, is a specialist in CAD (computer-assisted design) tools and innovative industrial technologies, which he uses to design customisable motorcycles from mass-produced models.

‘The current problem with customised motorbikes is that owners can’t ride them freely. Motorcyclists have the choice of riding a standard motorbike from one of today's major manufacturers or riding a bike which is customised but non-certified. At Dab Motors, we firmly believe that individuality is at the heart of motorbike riding and so customisation is key. Our goal is to become the first motorcycle manufacturer born of this customisation culture which is now an extremely widespread trend’ he told us.

For the 6th ‘Atelier de l’Innovation’ call for projects, organised by the Basque Country Authority in association with ESTIA, Simon Dabadie received €30,000 to develop his project. He also benefited from the support of ESTIA. ‘We are going to sell a highly customised and certified motorbike. We are also developing an online platform which will enable our users to co-build their motorbike project. The ‘Atelier de l’Innovation’ prize will allow us to test and validate our motorbike and implement the industrial procedure. This will be a huge boost for the brand’, he explained. The project should be ready for presentation in 2019.
