Trainees from the Anglet federation of building trade journeymen (FCMB) created the Indar Bat non-profit organisation to participate in the re-building of homes on the island of Saint-Martin.

The organisation Indar Bat (‘a strength’ in Basque) was created by trainee joiners, carpenters and bricklayers from the federation of building trade journeymen (FCMB) in Anglet.  Located in the Arkinova technology park, the FCMB training centre takes in around 500 trainees for some fifteen diplomas in fields linked to building trades.

The aim of the non-profit organisation Indar Bat is to assist vulnerable populations in the autonomous rehabilitation and re-building of their homes, destroyed during Hurricane Irma which devastated the island of Saint-Martin last September.  On the ground in Saint-Martin for six weeks in May and June, the members of Indar Bat joined the teams of the National Association of Journeymen Builders.  The trainees from Anglet participated in the re-building of some twenty houses and a new mission is being planned for the coming autumn.
