ERC Starting Grant for UPPA Lab

Researcher Hannelore Derluyn from the Laboratory of Complex Fluids and their Reservoirs (LFCR) at the University of Pau & Pays de l’Adour (UPPA) has been awarded funding from the European Research Council (ERC) received via the prestigious ERC Starting Grant.

Every year, the European Research Council (ERC) awards individual research grants to researchers via a budget totaling €580 million, intended for funding approximately 390 grants. For her PRD-Trigger project dealing with the damage in stone due to salts, Hannelore Derluyn received a 5-year grant, taking effect in 2020. The CNRS research fellow in Geomechanics of Porous Media at the Laboratory of Complex Fluids and their Reservoirs located in Pau and Anglet on the Montaury campus, Hannelore Derluyn will research damage to stone (stone walls, historical monuments, cliffs) caused by salt, with the aim of providing solutions and opening up new avenues of research for conserving natural or building stones.
