Badjoto launches its car sharing application

Presented as a new car sharing assistance service for reducing the cost of daily journeys, the Badjoto application is now operational. Users are offered a free trial on the Izarbel Technology Park.

The concept of this young innovative business is based on a low range locator beacon installed in a vehicle. This beacon only communicates with the driver's smartphone and is not fitted with a GPS system. Under the user’s control, this system counts the vehicle’s arrivals and departures, records its usual journeys through the smartphone’s GPS and memorises the times. This information is transmitted by the smart phone to Badjoto’s central server which then offers a car sharing service to other subscribers to this patented solution.

The application uses the map of each vehicle’s journeys to suggest contacts with other users with similar journeys. The originality of Badjoto's economic model is based on the sale of a badge to the vehicle drivers, their payment per kilometre and on a financial contribution from the passengers. The latter reserve their place with drivers who pass their home the nearest and the service manages the financial compensation in a fair manner while making the transactions between private individuals secure.

Created at the Izarbel ESTIA Entreprendre business incubator in the summer of 2016 by Stéphane Perret, Badjoto set up a base in the business nursery on the same site in September 2017. Stéphane Perret then recruited an IT engineer and a digital marketing manager. The Badjoto solution has been in operation since the beginning of 2018 and around one hundred users have already registered.

“We are offering everyone who works on the Izarbel Technology Park the chance to try out our solution free of charge. The idea is to create synergies in business parks or within large companies to create small Badjoto networks,” explained Stéphane Perret. The application can be downloaded free on iOS and Android. Registrations for this offer specific to Izarbel have been open since 15 January: www.badjoto.com/izarbel
