Inventing a sustainable future in the industry

“Inventing a sustainable future” is the theme of the 10th Industry Week organised from the 20th to the 28th of November by UIMM Adour and partners, foremost of which is Communauté Pays Basque. With its support to industrial manufacturers and the energy transition, a vector of major competition, its commitment is obvious. The evolution of energy prices and protecting the environment are forcing the local authority and its partners to make immediate changes. As part of Territoire d’Industrie Pays Basque, discussions are being led around demand response and circular economy to help productive Pays Basque companies to transition towards a sustainable industry. Two such examples are the Fataloop study of the Technocité science park in Bayonne and the first call for eco-design projects in 2021.

Conference on the energy transition and Soule region Business Day

These topics will resonate at the 10th Industry Week, as part of a conference on the energy transition in industrial settings that was held on November 24 by PBI and Odace, with support from Communauté Pays Basque. ADEME will discuss existing mechanisms, Communauté Pays Basque’s Energy Transition Department will introduce its development contract for thermal renewables, while Akira, which has offices in the Bayonne Technocity, will speak of the Fataloop study.  Testimonials from regional industrial manufacturers who have already started their energy transition will follow.

The conference will conclude on Odace’s industry efforts in the Soule region and open door days.

Job dating

On November 18, Communauté Pays Basque will also be supporting a job dating evening, at the Créaluz incubator of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, from 17.00 to 20.00. It will provide opportunities to find local business who are recruiting in the Pays Basque region.

Industry Week brings together about fifteen events across the department, such as a Job Fair, school and company visits, conferences, debates, etc. Likewise, on December 9th and 10th, ESTIA will be organising 24 Hours for Planet Innovations at its Bidart campus. Five hundred students, NGOs, and universities will come together to think up solutions for ecological and societal solutions.
