24 Hours of Innovation 2018 dedicated to fashion and textiles

The 12th edition of this creative and technological challenge will be seeking to develop innovative concepts around fashion tech, working on themes and subjects submitted by enterprises, labs and creators. It will take place at the Izarbel Technology Park at ESTIA on the weekend of October 19 and 20.

Organised by the ESTIA engineering school since 2007, the 24 Hours of Innovation allows multidisciplinary teams (students, professionals etc) to spend 24 hours working non-stop on operational subjects submitted by enterprises, labs, associations etc. For this 20th edition, the ten participating teams made up of students from different schools will be challenged on 20 practical cases related to the fashion and textile industry.

“There are two main reasons which explain the choice of the theme of fashion and textiles.  First of all, to accompany the development of the BALI Chair (Biarritz Active Lifestyle Industry) which was created by ESTIA and 3 partners one year ago. The BALI Chair aims to bring together the fashion industry and the academic world. The fashion and textile sector now represents more jobs in France than the aerospace and automotive sectors combined and offers great job opportunities for our students. The other reason for this choice is a change in the concept of the 24 Hours of Innovation which will now alternate between specialised and multi-sector editions of the event.  As well as the next edition in Bidart, three specific editions will be organised - via partnerships - in October and in November and will touch upon different sectors: sustainable development in Narbonne, geosciences and energy at Pau, and aeronautics in Tours” explains Jeremy Legardeur, a professor at ESTIA and the man behind the event.
