WikiCampers launches its application

The services of the private motor-home hire platform are now offered in a mobile version with innovations. This development was carried out with the support of the Pays Basque Urban Authority as part of the 2016 version of the “Innovation Workshop” call for projects.

In November 2016, Fanny Couronné and Marion Woirhaye were successful during the fourth “Innovation Workshop” call for projects, instigated by the Pays Basque – Adour Urban Authority (which became the Pays Basque Urban Authority on 1st January 2017) with their project for the complete reworking of their Wikicampers platform and the creation of a mobile application.

Wikicampers is a website which publishes advertisements for the hire of motor-homes between private individuals, created at the Izarbel Technology Park in 2012. The Wikicampers’ platform provides a range of services (insurance, secure payment, hire contracts, practical advice) intended to optimise transactions. The Wikicampers’ start-up consists of around twenty people and has 50,000 members registered on the website.

Last May, Wikicampers put its new website online, and then in August the free MyWikicampers application was launched. The major innovation of this application is the option of carrying out a digital inventory of the vehicle which only Wikicampers offers in the motor-home hire market. Another innovation is a geolocation section which allows the traveller to access practical information and services throughout their journey.
