Scale joins the competitiveness hub for industries & agro-resources

Le matériau SCALITE®

The Arkinova start-up developing a material based on fish scales is joining IAR, the French bio-economy hub with over 400 members.

Scale was launched as a company by Erik De Laurens and Edouard De Dreuzy in March 2018 to create a new generation of materials that are biodegradable, bio-sourced and non-detrimental. Established within the Arkinova Business Generator, the Scale team is developing SCALITE®, a material wholly designed from fish scales.

Last April, the company joined the industry and agro-resources hub (IAR) working on all areas related to the production and promotion of biological resources for food, industrial and energy purposes. With certification as a competitive hub for bio-economy from 2019, the IAR association has over 400 members.

“We linked up with the IAR hub in the research phase to increase our production capacity […] to enhance and share our knowledge in the area of bio-sourced materials […] to access skills networks, especially in the animal food industry with processes similar to our own,” stated Erik De Laurens, President and co-founder of the company Scale.
